HMS Belfast
HMS Belfast cruiser moored at the Thames near the Tower Bridge and the London City Hall.
In 1936 the Admirality decidet to order two englared and improved versions of the light cruisers of the Southampton class with sixteen 6-inch guns in four turrets, on a displacement of 10 000 tons - the maximum permitted under the terms of the Washington Naval Treaty.
